Sophie Banister is an Australian writer, comedian and musician based in London. Mostly known for musical comedy filled with whimsy and “charming geekery”, Sophie has performed internationally in comedy clubs and multiple of her one woman cabarets in the fringe festival circuit. In 2025 Sophie was shortlisted for the UK musical comedy awards and performed her one woman show “Let Me Be the Cool Aunt” as a part of the Laughing Horse at Edinburgh Fringe. Most recently she has qualified for the UK Musical Comedy Awards semi-final. She hosts live events from the pub to audiences of 300 and has just last year released her first EP of musical comedy songs.

Beyond creating her own work, Sophie performs around Australia as a vocalist, in radio and works as an arts facilitator, particularly in the disability sector. She is passionate about festivals and their impact on community and connection. Sophie’s work is heavily influenced by her passion for heightened theatre, absurdism, music and comedy.
